The Holiday Blues

While the holidays are a joyous time for many, some Oklahomans dread the coming season.  It is a particularly difficult time for those in recovery from illnesses such as depression, panic disorders and other ailments exacerbated by stress.  Others who may be isolated or without family and friends, such as the elderly or chronically ill, also may suffer adverse reactions in correlation with the holiday period.  Cold weather, fewer daylight hours, bills, and numerous other factors contribute to this.

There are ways for individuals to prevent these negative effects, and signs that others should be aware of if concerned about loved ones.
