What To Expect
What to Expect When You Call For the First Time
You are our first priority. Regardless of your reason for calling, we are committed to helping you access the services you require.
Your first call to Central Oklahoma is much like scheduling your first appointment with a family physician. A member of our staff will collect your contact information and pass it along to a trained clinician in our Evaluation and Referral department. When the clinician returns your call, they will ask questions like:
You may be asked to provide information in addition to the questions listed above. Each of these questions helps us to determine your eligibility to receive services at COCMHC. If you are not eligible to receive services here, our Evaluation and Referral department will refer you to another community resource.
What to Expect On Your Initial Visit to COCMHC
Following the telephone screening, the clinician will determine the need for you to make an appointment for a mental health evaluation. If you are asked to come in for an evaluation, please bring information about:
In order for us to spend as much time with you as necessary to assess your needs and goals, please allow two hours for your initial appointment.
Once the evaluation appointment is complete, our staff will determine our ability to meet your service needs at COCMHC. If we are unable to meet those needs, we will provide you with an appropriate referral.
Calling about a loved one or friend?
We cannot require anyone to receive treatment. What we can do is support you and provide you with some tools that may help you encourage your friend or loved one to call COCMHC.
