Child and Family Services

Central Oklahoma Community Mental Health Center offers comprehensive outpatient behavioral health services to children of all ages and their families. The clinicians in Child and Family Services are committed to serving children in the least restrictive environment, providing services that are driven by the strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences of the child and family, and empowering each family to reach their goals.

Central Oklahoma Community Mental Health Center’s Child and Family Services are designed to provide a safe, therapeutic environment for children and adolescents experiencing behavioral health problems. The agency offers a range of behavioral health services provided by Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Specialists, Mental Health Professionals, Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, and Psychiatrists. These professionals work in partnership with each family as a team to meet the needs of the child and family. Other professionals may be included and or consulted with in the team’s treatment planning such as a nurses, medical personnel, or educational specialists.

Child and Family Counseling Services

COCMHC provides individual, group and family therapy to children and adolescents in an outpatient setting. We use various techniques and forms of treatment to improve the lives of children with complex emotional and behavioral needs. Children and youth challenged by anxiety and depression; poor attachment; attention-deficit/hyper-activity; low self-esteem; divorce, grief and trauma, such as sexual and physical abuse are seen by COCMHC clinical staff. Services may also include an assessment and treatment by our child psychiatrist.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

COCMHC provides short-term, specialized behavior management program designed for young children (ages 2-7) experiencing behavioral and/or emotional difficulties. PCIT works with the child and caregiver together to improve overall behavior, increase parenting success and enhance the parent-child bond.

CARE for KIDS Mobile Crisis Program

COCMHC provides 24-hour-a-day mental health assessment and stabilization for Cleveland and McClain County children and families, who are in acute psychological, emotional or behavioral health crisis. CARE for KIDS staff assist families by providing access to telephone and face-to-face assessment, crisis stabilization, referral to needed services and engagement until these services are in place. The CARE for KIDS staff are available for consultation and community education about mental health issues facing children and families and resources in our community. CARE for KIDS services are provided in the office. Mobile services are available when the need is indicated.
