Services: CARE for KIDS - Mobile Crisis  Response

Program Description:

CARE for KIDS is a mobile crisis service that was established in 2007.   The CARE team provides ‘crisis, assessment, referral and engagement’ services to children, adolescents and parent/caregivers in Cleveland and McClain County.

The goal of CARE for KIDS is to provide early and easy access to screening and evaluation and support until services are in place.  The CARE Line is open twenty-four hours per day and is staffed by two Licensed Behavioral Health Professionals and a Staff Assistant trained in effective listening and knowledgeable about resources in our community.

Goals for this service include access to screenings in within 24-48 hours of request in     non-crisis situations.  In situations that require the CARE Team to mobilize, access must be provided within two hours of the initial call.  The success of this service depends on the quality of the relationships with area law enforcement personnel.

COCMHC is fortunate to have the support of the major law enforcement entities in Cleveland and McClain Counties.  Police departments have been willing to respond to CARE Team requests to accompany them to consumer homes and have assisted families in securing needed services for their children.
